Creative Connections: Ceramic Pottery

An introduction to the art of pottery led by Ron White that focuses on hand-building without the use of a throwing wheel. Over the course of three Saturday sessions, participants will have the opportunity to mold and shape three pieces of pottery by hand: a cup, a bowl, and a pitcher. Each session will guide you through the step-by-step process of crafting these items, allowing you to gradually develop your skills and gain confidence in creating pottery.

In the first session you will learn the fundamentals of shaping and texturing clay to make a unique cup that is both beautiful & functional. The second session builds off of the first in building a bowl and using resists when applying glaze. In the third session you will create a pitcher and decorate it with the sgraffito technique. Each piece will be kiln fired between sessions.

Note that the project on the third Saturday (May 30) will not be fired until after that session. You must return the following week to pick up your finished project.

This is a three-session course; it cannot be split, and missed classes will not be refunded. Participants must purchase the course and must cancel before the first day of class (May 16) to receive a course refund. (Class registration required by May 15 @ 6pm.)
